So thin it’s barely visible in some angles. From Lincoln Center yesterday

Very odd pattern of testing the lighting. Wonder what’s going on.

Its possible that the completed sections are being tested, and the rest is underway and possibly in a finalizing stage

I stitched your shots for a wider look

Nice. I took videos but not sure how to post them on here. The photos make the lights look much brighter than they are. I mean they are pretty bright but in real life you can still see the terracotta detailing. But yeah for testing this does seem pretty random. My hope is that the lights are installed on all of the terracotta and the lights have the ability to fade up the building in a very slow twisting motion.

Yes I want the moire effect reflected at night as it stands out in the day. Truly a nice detail of this building and the purpose of all those slightly offset terra cotta sections. I think a slow light chasing effect will emphasize this.

I would say if you’re taking photos of the skyline from NJ, you can catch the shadow of those terracotta waves between 1:45-2:00 PM as the sun starts to hit the west face. On the New York side across the East River, you can catch the same effect between 1:15-1:30PM. The times vary throughout the year though, I figured this out with SunCalc (highly recommend)

Definitely has an advantage that they can light up not just the top but the sides as well. The lights definitely look better in person than in photos.

No picture captures how this tower looks in person. The lighting on the side is somewhat ocher/gold. When done this will be absolutely amazing, True icon.

I can’t wait for the crown lighting too.

I’ve got the pictures you want…and I’ll make this tower look better than it does in person.
At least that’s the goal.

Why does Tower Verre have a dark empty space on top of the crown? It looks horrible. Will it not light up?

It was supposed to have lighting on the diagrid but it was likely value-engineered out at one point. I doubt there will be any sort of lighting for this building given it’s been completed for a while now. What a wasted opportunity for something really cool.

How pathetic. Talk about missed opportunities.
Imho, if you want a complete skyscraper package in 2022 and beyond, you have to have good nighttime lights. Think 1 Vandy. And the future 270 Park. Now that is good lighting.

A couple of BMU snaps from my way home from the office today

Is there something I’m missing or are they hanging completely loose, with several hundred feet of cable and a >1000ft drop below?
I have always observed some sort of horizontal safety mechanism, either a close rail attachment or intermittent tethers, to prevent swaying in the event of sudden winds. Even with tethers, the BMU at 111 Murray had a very dangerous incident a few years ago.
I know the winds were pretty still today but this seems dangerous, no?

Great pics though

Its next level. Instead of an observation deck they swing you and 6 lucky friends around the spire just like they do @ the NY state fair.
