Just saw this on Reddit /r/NYCpics (not my photo). Could they be testing the LEDs on the E/W facades?

Is the lighting supposed to eventually be the full length of the building? That would look amazing!

I doubt it, but let’s hope so

Rather than illuminating the building through continuous lighting, which would mute the undulating surfaces of the terracotta, the soft waves of the terracotta are accentuated in ripples of light that wash over the facade at night. Emphasizing the rich texture of the tower’s slim outlines, the illumination cascades down to connect the upper crown to the building’s grand lobby on street level.

^I wonder if they’ll allow special trips to the top since like 400 feet of this thing is just mechanical/ and art piece

I wonder if the lighting will be static or if the brightness will slowly change and the light will “chase” across the facade.

I’m not too sure about the final product, however it doesn’t look exactly like the renderings. The renderings showed the lights glowing across many of the rows of terracotta in the wavy form. However when we saw the images of the physical test on the mockup, the light was only on one row of terracotta. As we see, it makes these bold rods of light, which I still like a lot…I’ll be stunning when complete along with the crown lights. Fingers crossed for colored lighting, but i think like CPT this will also stay the same hue

Once the lighting is completely installed, this tower and eventually 270 Park Avenue, will be one of the most prominent skyscrapers in the NYC skyline at night!
