An architecture firm as renowned as KPF should know better.
KPF takes great care to hide the mechanical equipment when they’re designing supertalls like One Vanderbilt and the Hudson Yards towers, but they’re downright sloppy when it comes to less prominent ones like 111 Murray and Madison Square Park Tower. After Madison Square Park Tower I assumed the developer had cheaped out, but now that KPF has done this multiple times I’m starting to blame the architects.
I wish they had gone with Rogers Stirk Harbour’s proposal. The mechanical equipment is much more tastefully integrated into the design.
The base is complete and looking nice. The public space/park next door seems just about finished as well.
Awesome. Thought that got value-engineered out.
Ugh. The top of 3 WTC looks like crap at night with no decorative lighting. What’s the deal.
Uuuh, I think that’s just the entire roof lit up. If so YIKES
I think its the penthouse.
You must be correct because on the cam right now, it looks lit up, but looking at it from a few blocks away right now the top is completely dark viewed from below
This is a fantastic tower.

This is a beautiful building except for the visible BMU. They should have put it on a lift so it disappears when not in use.
Agreed. So many of these architects are designing these towers with visible maintenance equipment for some odd reason. It never looks good.
Exposed mechanicals are the blight of NYC!
Are they still making the fountains at the base or were they V-E’d out?
