This is honestly still crazy. Still hard to tell if it will have any lighting (need to get closer and zoom in), might conflict/clash with the 5th Ave star ornament right in front of it. It will atleast be a nice track of progress when each trunk is (hopefully) dismantled as each tier is demo’ed.

WOW. I’d really like to see someone on Canal St. try to pull off an imitation of that scaffolding LOL.

Yeah, my initial thoughts changed when I stopped by last week and saw electrical wires hanging from the trunk edges. So im surprised and not suprised that they ended up lighting it.

I still do hope they dismantle each trunk progressively so that we can still gauge demo progress.

Social media is reporting that Melania ran out of closet space and LVMH threw up this awesome mini-storage on the corner for her.

It’s wild how many people are creating a log jam at the sidewalk intersection on all 3 opposite corners… all the mess of metal barricades doesnt really help either

Does anyone know what material has been used for the metal components? Amazing!

It’s most likely just sheet metal, which can be made of a various amount of metals, but it’s probably just aluminum.

Am I the only one that finds this gauche?

I did not know aluminum can attain such a high polish and that luster survive outside. Knowing that it is just temporary I think it is really well done and a lot of fun! It is amazing what can be done with incredible wealth.

It is a PR stunt - for that reason, I’m more than OK with it - I would hate a building looking like that for more than 6 months.

Ok well try telling that to the retail salespeople along 5th Avenue. I spoke to at least one person who thought that was going to be the actual exterior of the finished buildig

…but then again having worked in retail that isn’t all that surprising. Pottery Barn on Houston saw me listening to the same 12 Christmas songs for 3+months.
