NEW YORK | 1 E 57th St | Ft | Fl

The new LVMH in Beverly Hills will include a hotel. I would not be surprised if the new NY building includes one too.

Hopefully this inspires Louis Vuitton to give NYC all the money they were planning to give to those ungrateful LA voters. A hotel here makes more sense than ever now.

I suspected all along that a hotel and possibly condos would be part of this project.

Maybe LVMH will build a chateau here like the old Gilded Age original:

The demolition is anticipated to cost $13 million, the permit says. No construction permits have yet been filed for the replacement building, and it’s unclear what the new structure will look like — or how large it will be.

The plans to destroy the current, glassy-fronted shop front have been in the works since at least last year, when The Post reported that LVMH was already interviewing “starchitects” and hosting a “beauty contest” to determine the design for its upcoming flagship Louis Vuitton retail and office address.

If it is a “beauty contest’ they are staging: Ana Gato gets my vote.
On second thought, perhaps they mean: beautiful Architecture, not beautiful Architects

Scaffolding has started going up here as well to begin demolition.

I asked ChatGPT - “ what are the current redevelopment plans for 1 east 57th street “. The following is the answer I got from my favorite AI (artificial intelligence) app. :+1:

Redevelopment Plans:

  1. Developer: The redevelopment is being undertaken by CIM Group, a prominent real estate and infrastructure investment firm.
  2. New Design and Purpose:
  • Architectural Design: The redevelopment will include a major overhaul of the building’s exterior and interior. The architectural design for the new project has been created by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), a well-known architecture firm.
  • Transformation: The existing structure is being transformed into a luxury residential building. The new design will include modern residential units, high-end amenities, and upgraded building systems.
  1. Timeline: The project began with initial plans and approvals in recent years, and construction is expected to continue over several years, with completion anticipated around the mid-2020s.
  2. Features:
  • Residences: The redeveloped building will feature high-end residences, including both condominiums and rental units.
  • Amenities: Plans include a range of luxury amenities, such as a fitness center, rooftop terrace, and possibly a pool.
  1. Commercial Space: While the building is primarily being converted to residential use, there may be some commercial space included at the ground level or in other parts of the building.

This redevelopment is part of a broader trend in Midtown Manhattan, where many older office buildings are being converted into modern residential and mixed-use spaces to meet the growing demand for high-end living in the city.

For the most current updates on the project, including changes in plans or timelines, you might want to check recent news articles or announcements from the developers or local real estate sources.

snooped around Byencore’s website after @ThreeWentDown posted about it in the 570 Fifth thread. This was right underneath and I can’t recall seeing it pop up anywhere else before.

Oh my God.

That’s at least 1,000 feet tall.

I wouldn’t overreact. The rendering lacks 745 Fifth, so it might be just a hypothetical study of a full-block assemblage, which would never happen. But digital artists are known to take artistic license when rendering new buildings.

The extent to which LVMH is going to “beautify” the scaffolding is insane, they’re making each level/box look like a LV chest.

Totally on brand.

An interesting look for sure.

From this evening:

How cool is that?!

They have the same thing in their Louis Vuitton store on the Champs Elysées in Paris. Hope they replicate the night lighting here in NY too

The “wrap” covering their hotel project in Paris is built much more extensively than the one here in NY, its basically acting as a temporary facade. The one here is built with very minimal materials.

While I wouldn’t be surprised if it “is” lit up, I also wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t just because its not built up the same.

They might do something special for Christmastime.
