I never understood why some buildings (often of the same size) would have a structural steel super structure, and others would use reinforced concrete formwork.

I guess from what you have said the answer is: sometimes ‘Steel is more efficient’ - sometimes not.

Those in the trade would know when one or the other is more efficient. I now at least know that ‘someone’ for some ‘reason’ decided which type of superstructure is more ‘efficient’.

So, I learned something today, and for that, thanks.
