Mcarts notes of developments and etc

Ugh I hate how skyscraperpage blurs proposed and under construction projects now

Me as well

Okay for Midtown let’s see.

The rest of Midtown East
Hudson Yards Phase 2 (extensions of the highline as well)
Penn Station Towers
PABT Development
The ever growing 57th Street

Random towers like Macy’s and Affirmation Tower.

These areas combined together would create one massive city

Ha! Just one of those developments in most US cities would be an entirely new city!

Imagine these built

Those are cool, but just conceptual.
But 2 870 M buildings in NYC would be insane

Now put those two towers with the rest of the areas I mentioned and you got yourself a signature tower

At 870 M, both would share the title of the tallest. And NYC would once again have the title of the tallest twin towers in the world.

But it’s completely conceptually and I highly doubt they have the sqft to actually ever do that. Or anythign even close to it.

What the heck has been going on with the Macys tower recently? It feels as if they totally silenced their plans. There was one news story / article, and that was it.

We heard the intial plan, then silence for months. Then we got the official renderings and a big announcement about everything, and it’s been silence since.

I have no idea what’s going on. Hopefully they actually go through with it, I really like that proposal

Yeah just checked again and the last time we checked up on it was may of last year.

Ok. I see. We will probably hear some good news about it sooner than later. What about the affirmation tower? Is that just a vision? What do you think?

No that’s a real proposal. They already have the financing, they’re just waiting for the RFP to be rereleased

Speaking of Affirmation, they should bump the height up to 1,667 ft or 1,668 ft. As Taipei 101’s height is 1,667 ft.

Also if it’s built that top floor is going to be ridiculous. That skating rink + observation deck that from intial renders looked kinda like a hybrid of outside and inside was amazing. By the time this is built the observation deck game in NYC is gonna be on another level.

Supertalls + (no towers)

Dubai - 26 (including UC)
NYC - 19 (including UC)

Dubai - 30 (Including UC and proposed) Cannot check the validaty of each one like I can with NYC. Just have to trust SSP
NYC - 28 (Including UC and proposed) Keep in mind this does not include projects with no renderings or heights or anything like that. So even though we know we’re getting several supertalls in things like the Penn development, PABT and HY phase 2 (among other projects) they aren’t included here.

I will get to modifying this with supertalls that we may know are coming to NYC, but aren’t included in SSP’s diagrams page.

Dubai - 30 (Including UC and proposed)
NYC - 35 ( Including UC and proposed, adjusted by me)
For NYC added 1 supertall for PABT, Penn, and HY phase 2. This was because each one is basically guaranteed a supertall, but I didn’t want to throw in towers that may not happen.
For example, penn could have 4 + supertalls. Or it could have like 1. Best to go with 1.
Also included 2 WTC because it was strangely omitted. Added 80 South Street. Added 740 - 750 8th. Added 520 Fifth.

Keep in mind I was conservative with NYC. A rough gestimate, it could go to 45+ if I was being generous and optimistic.

And I don’t have a firm grasp on Dubai so it could very well have several projects like NYC that slipped mine and SSP’s grasp, meaning more for it. (And it probably does, I wonder how many though)…
One distinction Dubai has that NYC doesn’t is a megatall (also the title of current tallest in the world.)

NYC might actually rival Hong Kong in terms of skyscrapers and density

Idk HKs density, but NYC has always been ahead in skyscrapers. Err well, it depends really actually.

Like they say, NYC is the “greatest city in the world”

Also, I like your summary of the number of supertalls between Dubai and NYC. Now imagine a supertall race like that between the two cities :flushed:

Thanks.
Anyway, back to what I was talking about with being generous with NYC.

NYC rn (Including UC and proposed) - 28
Okay so instead of 1 per megadev, let’s add a realistic amount more.
3 for PABT (probably low)
4 for Penn
2 for HY phase 2.

That’s already 37. Add 2 WTC, 80 South, 740 8th and 520 Fifth.
41. A few random supertalls here and there (Especially along 57th street) and you can see where I got the 45 + number.

But really we should probably stick to the conservative 35 for now. (Lol 35 supertalls is conservative, love it)

Geeez, now that I think about it, the number sounds a lot especially for supertalls!
