Mcarts notes of developments and etc

Something that I sketched based on the Hudson Spire concept as the world’s tallest building for downtown’s skyline.

What do you think?

Looks great, and very tall :slightly_smiling_face:

NYC circa 2014

NYC now

NYC circa 2030 (keep in mind this is a very limited view that doesn’t take into account a lot of the future developments, like PABT)

Now I’m curious to see how MSG plays out since the operating permit at the site expires in 2023

Tallest proposed buildings in the area.
Manhattan - Affirmation Tower | 1,663 ft
Brooklyn - 80 Flatbush | 840 ft
Queens - 2748 Jackson Ave | 794 ft? Or 811?
Bronx - ?
Jersey City - Urby II & III (201 Hudson St) 736 ft
Newark -The Halo | 573 ft

I don’t believe there are any taller projects proposed than Urby II & III (201 Hudson St) in Jersey City at 736’. Or atleast that I am aware of/that have been made public.

Bronx wouldn’t have a tall building anytime soon, unless more wealth is poured into the borough in general. The tallest is the Riverside Projects. If anything, I can visualize a 400-500 footer on the Mott Haven waterfront, where most development is happening.

As for Staten Island, at this point, I consider that a suburbia.

I completely forgot about Staten lmao

Yes, Staten Island is the most suburban of the 5 boroughs. But for a few mid-rise apartments, there aren’t many “tall” buildings. If you wanted to include proposals from SI, the tallest thing by far if ever built in the future would be the smaller proposed version of the NY Wheel at 420’.

Sounds like the perfect place for a large amusement park, just saying just saying.

Brooklyn’s tallest proposed is actually 80 Flatbush. 100 Flatbush is the one that is currently going up.

Oh, I just sort of combined them in my head lol

What I see is that Chicago is developing very strongly. Even if without large projects then with very many with low heights.

I guess that before 2019, only 432 Park and One 57 are the dominant ones in midtown

Yeah, Chicago still has a lot of development under construction as of now. I hope either Chicago or NYC gets a megatall (at least 1968 ft tall) eventually

Oh yes don’t mistake me, I was just providing a point of comparison. If a bit unfair. (Then again any comparison with NYC is unfair with American cities)

Chicagos is still doing a bunch of development
