Here’s hoping that most of the remaining highrises slated for the Arts District come to fruition. I was worried they’d all been killed by the pandemic but the rise of Alloy suggests there’s confidence in the area. And if Metro gets its act together re: the B/D subway extension to 6th Street, we’ll really be in business.
Centro Westlake
SOM and Studio MLA headline the Centro Westlake design team, and have developed a project featuring a mix of low-rise and high-rise structures. The height of the complex would be oriented toward the rear of the site, paring down through terrace decks toward MacArthur Park to the west. Plans call for a 44-story, 570-foot-tall building which would contain a hotel, housing, and commercial space toward Wilshire, and a 34-story, 448-foot-tall building with similar uses near 7th Street. Other structures would range from two to six stories in height and include commercial space, offices, a food court, and a dog park.
It will be interesting to see if this gets built. MacArthur Park has a very bad reputation due to very high levels of crime and drugs.
LA needs dozens more 30-40 story towers all over the map.
Beverly Hills, CA
These will be the tallest buildings in Beverly Hills.
One Beverly Hills, approved for a roughly 17.5-acre site at 9900 Wilshire Boulevard, is being developed as a joint venture between Alagem Capital Group and Cain International. Plans call for the construction of a collection of mid-rise and high-rise buildings containing a combined total of 255 condominiums, 79 hotel suites, and approximately 30,000 square feet of commercial space. Parking for roughly 1,900 vehicles would be located in a subterranean structure.

This may end up being one of the tallest buildings in Hollywood
Skid Row might be redeveloped.
What is up with that hanging gardens thing? The whole thing will probably end up looking more like the Capitol Records Building.
Next week the concrete beams begin installation on the Annenberg Wildlife Crossing. Alternating 101 lanes will be closed over night for the next 6-8 weeks. We and the animals look forward to this being completed.
