JERSEY CITY | One Journal Square | 710 FT x 2 | 64 FLOORS x 2

if I’m being honest I like the new design better, even if the older concepts included more.

The full color renderings look good. Cladding looks nice too. Glad it was approved.

I also like the new design more actually

It’s like a modern day Mies design, but with cantilevers. If the facade is made with copper or some sort of corten steel, I’ll shut up haha

Anybody know when this is so post to break ground?

Good news or bad news, depending upon your perspective:

TRD: So what are you going to do next? Are you going to sue the city?

Charlie Kushner: We’re seriously contemplating suing the city, yes. And we’re also thinking of some other ways to develop the property, the project.

Ghosts of developers past. JC has to give the money back to the previous developer of One Journal Square.

This project will never get started…

Well now what? Now that the suit has been dismissed.

Well now we know. Just sue again! They should just sell the site to a company actually willing to develop it, instead of showboating.

There is nothing stopping these clowns from building. Build or sell, you idiots. Stop trying to extort the city and taxpayers.

And now Chapter 5,329 in this neverending saga

The project is expected to begin construction next year.

Not ruling it out, but I’ll believe when I see it.

Additionally, each of the two towers will consist of 52 stories dedicated to residential units above a 12-story base building which contains ground floor retail space, amenity space, additional residential uses, and structured parking.

The project has been modified to, among other things: reduce the height of the buildings from 758 feet to 710 feet, replace five stories of office space and one story of retail space with residential space, remove the WeWork and WeLive concepts, and re-envision the facade of the towers.

I hope the facade isn’t white. There’s enough of that in the harbor area between City Point and Journal Squared.

I personally think Jared is the best thing that has ever happened to Journal Square… I think the ambition of Kushner Cos is fantastic and I can’t wait to see skyscrapers rise all over the place :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’ll have to disagree with that!

If any other developer besides Jared had owned this lot, it would’ve been developed by now instead of being a thorn in the neighborhood’s side for a decade. Namdar has already built two high-rises and may soon start building another, his tallest yet, at 27 floors. And the Namdar plan for Homestead Pl includes a beautiful multi-block pedestrian walkway lined with retail that will be transformative. Lots of smaller developers have been turning vacant dirty lots into housing for years in Journal Square, while Jared’s vacant lots have remained filthy holes in the ground while he duked it out with Fulop.

I’m also not a fan of parking podiums and the effect they have on the street, and at 10 stories tall, this one might be a world record holder!

All that said, I’ll be glad the day I see shovels in the ground on this project

Hopefully in 10 years Journal Square will look like LIC

The day I see those yellow construction permits on the fence and there’s machines on site…that’ll be a good day for the city. Yeah…10 floors of parking is basically 10 Exchange Place but in a more prominent location lol. I have hope in a high quality facade :crossed_fingers:t3:
