I dont think they’re replacing the current cw panels that were already installed?

It’s different than the existing one, and there’s a new cladding contractor/manufacturer appointed in the summer that’ll handle the entire envelope now:

Thanks for sharing that :+1:t2:, i thought they were just adding more panels because some parts of the tower do/did have vertical fins and some didn’t (were just bare/smooth) as part of the original design as visible in the 2nd to last image.

New contractor on site:

But take it with a grain of salt. The existing panels seem to have pins to install fins on them, and maybe they’ll even end up retaining that portion - but after 7 years of desert conditions, they might remain permanently dirty, and mismatch the new panels’ reflective properties.

And evidently, installation of some fins on the existing facade, has commenced per this November picture.

Those are the ones I was referring to previously, but they’ve been there since June.

Pouring 50 floors in a year is very plausible.

I like how in that profile shot of the unfinished skyscraper you can see where the construction was paused

Great photos! I’m so glad new portions of the curtain wall are finally being installed.

A week or two ago I was confused about the floor count of the Jeddah Tower. Back in December I could have sworn people posted on social media saying the tower was on its 81st, 82nd floor. But now it’s January and some new posts (Google-searched) only say the Jeddah Tower reached the 80th floor?

Never always trust that AI overview. The core was on the 85th floor just five days ago and is now up to the 87th floor, while it looks like 74 floors have been constructed

See the 074 on the netting?
