"A 25-story office tower could rise over Camden’s downtown area as part of a redevelopment project at the Walter Rand Transportation Center, county officials said.
The proposed Beacon Building is described as “the newest vision” for an ongoing $250-million reconstruction project at the Broadway transit center.
The building, with some 500,000 square feet of office space, “would be a generational investment for the future of the city and its residents,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli said in a statement.”
A majority of Camden is pretty awful, but the area is improving by the bridge. Hopefully all of this progress can truly heal Camden, it’s in a sad state. I just drove through the city last month, south Camden ain’t pretty and I lived near Camden my whole life. I’m still hopeful though, this proposal is great to see!
And there’s two other images showing a massing of the building on Google Earth. Camden City Hall is 371 feet tall, and the towers of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge are 385 feet high. This building will definitely stand over 400 feet tall! For sure the next tallest building in Southwest Jersey, when built!
Forgive me lol. AC is easy to forget when living in NJ. Fun fact the tallest tower in Atlantic City was supposed to have a twin tower, you can still see the column and core layout to this day!
Yea, I remember when they reduced the plan to do the second tower. Honestly, I’ve been to Ocean and it’s not a bad hotel/casino. Would’ve been cool to have the expanded building
I also moved this forum from meta to Philadelphia proposals. Many New Jersey forums are labled New York, this project is right across Philadelphia so why not?
My own renderings of this building. The west face isn’t confirmed to have this shape, but hopefully we’ll find out shortly. The groundbreaking is on the 28th, I’m sure finished renderings and plans will be released then
