It’s mad to me they can progress this way on a national landmark with very little information given to the public or official plans or anything. They said it would be partial demolition but the whole thing’s gone now. I don’t even think the wing is that historically important but this seems crazy

Just par for the course for this administration

The Washington Compost says the folks criticising East Wing demolition are nimbys.

Can’t believe we’re still doing this in the twenty-first century. You’d think we’d have learned our lesson by now.

This one is outside the federal government’s “sphere of influence.”

This is the suburban light rail line in Maryland that’s currently under construction.

Some renderings are available from a firm interested in the project (Bermello Ajamil & Partners and Zaha Hadid Architects) of what some renovations of Dulles would look like, plus with unfortunate renaming to that of the Orange Felon.

More information (Paywall Bypassed)

The video they provided seems to be partially AI-generated.

Here’s the full proposal with renderings and details:

It seems the redesigns all follow the same format (a new headhouse and renovated satellite concourses).

It’s all a matter of design preference and who’s going to be a sucker and stick the president’s name on it.

One designer even wants to re-imagine the “mobile lounge” vehicles as well and reincorporate them in a new design.

They can name/rename later. If the naming gets it built quickly then so be it. Airport name changes all the time. He won’t be President forever.
