STAMFORD, Conn. — Construction has begun on the second phase of the Park Square West project located on Summer Street in downtown Stamford.
Phase 2 of Trinity Financial’s Park Square West’s project is a $46 million, 225,000-square-foot luxury high-rise with residential and commercial space, a release said. The 15-story building will have 209 apartments and about 6,800 square feet of ground floor retail, the release said.

Construction on the building began in May. It will be steel-framed, with a brick-faced precast concrete and glass curtain wall for its exterior skin, the release said. The project, which was awarded to Associated Construction & A.P. Construction, is expected to be finished in May 2015, the release said.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Associated Construction and Trinity Financial to build what will become a very attractive and needed mixed-use complex, which will enhance the economic development for downtown Stamford,” said Andrew B. Ashforth, CEO of A.P. Construction Co. and co-CEO of The Ashforth Co.

The residences will range from studios to three-bedroom apartments, and each unit will have a full appliance package, Trinity Financial’s website said. The building will also include a fitness center, security/concierge service and a community room, the website said.

Even though the construction is taking away the parking lot next to the Bow Tie Cinemas Majestic 6 movie theater, the Stamford Downtown Special Services District says “parking downtown will be as easy as ever.” The district’s website says there are more than 9,500 spaces spread among 15 locations, which can be found by following orange signs.

The parking situation will also receive a boost from the project itself as a $8.8 million extension of the Summer Street garage will be done, adding 321 more spaces, the release said. The extension will begin in May 2014 and is expected to be completed in one year.
