The station has been undergoing renovations to add new elevators, upgrade lighting and update signage. The new name also will better distinguish the station from William H. Gray III 30th Street Station across the street, which serves as a stop for various Amtrak, Regional Rail and NJ Transit lines.
Talks between SEPTA and Drexel began at the beginning of 2020 – about the time renovations began, Golden said. The new signage will be in place when SEPTA holds a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the refurbished station in early 2024.
I just wish they would reopen that tunnel.
One thing Philly does really well is big public spaces.
The 30th St SEPTA remodel is coming along. It looks like the exit will go all the way to the 30th St stoplight. Maybe it was that way before. It’s been a while since I used that station.
Truly amazing
The best part is the new escalators that go directly from street level to the mezzanine. It’s such a vast improvement over the twisty stairs that were there before, especially if you have luggage in tow.
I’ve been to this station a few times since it was renovated- it’s really nice!
Very disappointing and disheartening news…
It seems to me that with today’s video cameras etc it would be safe to reopen that tunnel. Maybe close it between midnight/5A.M. I wager it would be safer than trying to cross 30th St. although they have made improvements in that regard.
Philly is so good at giant public spaces -
Does this mean the entire project is fraudulent?? Or just this “man”
