The MTA is currently looking for contractors to undertake the much-needed renovation at the infamous Chambers Street. Such a renovation would be transformational, considering the reputation Chambers has as the worst station in the system. They ought to to Bowery next as that one is also in rough shape.

Chambers was the jewel in the crown of the BMT. Needless to say it’s shocking it was allowed to get so bad. And under the Municipal Building of call places.
I’d like to see something really interesting done with the closed platform.

This station is landmarked but alterations were done on the mezzanine level fairly recently which I don’t understand.

The modifications were for ADA accessibility. I mean the areas they did do work in were cleaned up a bit but the whole place is still a mess. This renovation will correct that also enable the historic tilework to be fully restored.

His local gauletier has already weighed in; not sure if we’ll hear anything from the White House this weekend. It’s awkward because while LIRR employees are mostly MAGA, the GOP is staunchly anti-union.

Certain unions are MAGA but I don’t know about this one.
How behind the curve do you have to be to think that man and his party is beneficial in any way to your workers union? Goodlord. If true, it’s because it’s largely made up of Long Island soft bigots that line up ideologically with MAGAs’ reactionary ethno-nationalist social views NOT because they’re getting some sort of pro-labor benefit from the ghouls in this administration.

As long as they cycle the ads and don’t let the same ones run too long to create conscious and subconscience stress inducing — and they’re not too annoying — I don’t see a problem with this. Unlike Soviet metros, it’s not like we can say the Subway is being commercialized. If anything, there used to be way more commercial advertisements in subway and elevated stations.
And please no audio ads about infections between the anus and genitals.
First of all, that’s called the “taint.” No need to perversely describe where it is when the simple term will do.
Second of all, which Soviet metros are commercialized? I don’t think the subways in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kyiv, Minsk, Baku, etc. have more ads in the stations or trains (including on train doors) than the typical European metro system. Or is there one in particular that is particularly bad? I would imagine the Dubai metro is the most commercialized of all since nearly every station name has been sold for naming rights like an NFL stadium, and as a result most metro stations have names that have no relation to their geographic locations.
Third, getting back to the topic at hand, the vast majority of MTA passengers are wearing headphones or similar devices while commuting, so these audio ads in the NYC will mostly “fall on deaf ears.”

Maybe I just worded it funny. I’m saying that in comparison to the Soviet metros… which were designed as monuments to socialist ideals and thus were free of advertisements and visual commercial clutter.
As for the taint ad, apparently you haven’t had the pleasure of being overexposed to Jardiance ads.
