I would not dispute that claim. However, this story was quite horrific to me - and do realize it does not negate the current report on subway crimes.

He’ll be tried as an adult.

Remember the PATH upgrade that shuttered Hoboken? Well, the station has to close once again since the new interlocking and switches are defective and have resulted in failures that have even caused a derailment. The blame is on the contractor for the project. Just another normal day on the PATH.

They’re blaming the contractor?

And who supervised the contractor and approved the designs?

The Port Authority deserves all the blame of this.

I mean I wouldn’t doubt it was the contractor. They’re notoriously either incompetent or corrupt. Not that the Port Authority is some shining beacon…

It all boils down to who gets sued for damages.

Metro North and the LIRR don’t have to deal with Amtrak the same way NJT does. Also, the NJ state government hates NJ Transit and refuses to fund them properly while also hiking fares. The end result is higher fares and infinitely more crappy service.

Yes. It reflects the general disinvestment in public transit that we have seen.

Based upon the photos in that article, it seems the entire platform didn’t receive them. It’s really disadvantageous to those who wish to board at the front or rear of the train.

Yeah I don’t see the logic in this.

It’s the same at the Grand Central platform on the “7” train. The Third Avenue end of that station does not have any platform barriers.

I am yet to see any stations with barriers that extend the total platform length.

All the stations I’ve seen with these barriers didn’t have any on the far ends of the platforms. Only towards the middle of the platform. Just the usual halfa** work we can expect from the MTA.
