Local Leaders for Responsible Planning is an NJ-based organized anti-density group made up of 27 towns that uses the classic ”overdevelops our communities” line as an excuse to block affordable housing projects.
The current system favors wealthy developers, and overdevelops our communities with high density housing. Our coalition is opposed to high density housing, which overburdens our communities infrastructure and public schools
They recently tried to block affordable housing mandates by taking it up to the State Court and got shot down. Because of this defeat, they’re now trying to go to a federal judge with their same demands, hoping they’ll rule in their favor. Hopefully, much like the State Court, the Federal Court dismisses their case because the LLRP’s entire arguments against denser affordable housing are based on no legal claims, and there’s a lot of throwing stuff to see what sticks.
