It’s basic supply and demand economics. There will never be enough affordable housing unless there’s enough housing in general. If there had been more rentals in manhattan all along, then the outer boroughs would never have become so gentrified. The housing market is fluid and constantly readjusts affordability based on supply and demand.
A lot of these city council members seem to have not even taken high school level econ.
You get a Ferris wheel (Staten Island), you get a Ferris wheel (failed Governors Island one), you get a Ferris Wheel (Harlem), you get a Ferris Wheel (East River Casino), lol who gets a Ferris wheel next.
Reminds me of the open office plans that everyone adopted just before covid. Places that were actually hard to get much work done it, that is until people stopped showing up for work allowing those rooms to become workable spaces again. Personally I lament the passing of the old layout on the B,D,Q,N & R.
