I hope for the best for the Empire Station project. Is there any chance we might see New York’s first mega tall within the next decade?
Probably not. There’s just no need for a mega tall outside of vanity projects. That’s why you see them in places like Dubai or China. It’s more of a, “Look at me! I’m important!” kind of project for emerging economies with authoritarian governments to “announce” their presence on the world stage.
Also, ever since the rebuilding of 1wtc, there’s kind of an unspoken rule to not build higher than 1776ft.
Not saying it’s impossible, I just wouldn’t put any money on the mega tall horse.
There were a crazy amount in philly last summer (like dozens on each block). I always thought it was weird how there were so many there and practically none here
Tropical Storm watch. Rain and gusts expected Sunday. Forecasters haven’t ruled out a landfall closer to NYC as some models are suggesting the possibility. This will be a Category 1 Hurricane at landfall wherever it hits.
The predicted track has shifted a little to the west. Second landfall after crossing Long Island Sound or Block Island Sound was earlier projected to be near the Connecticut/Rhode Island border or on Block Island itself. The newer map shows second landfall somewhere between New Haven and New London.
NYC won’t be spared from the bands of rain and strong winds. This will probably be the most serious impact since Sandy.
Watch it shifts to the west even more👀
The left side of a storm is the weak side though. Storm surge much less of an issue
get those cranes steady and ready!!
Luckily 111 W 57th’s crane is down. That one loved flailing about.
looks like Greenwich is it for the mainland landfall. This is uncomfortably close. If it shifts west again that wouldnt be good. That could be Brooklyn.
