Does anyone know if this parking lot, over looking Central Park, has been sold recently?

I came across this yesterday and it boggles my mind that this massive parking lot sits right next to Central Park. I tried to find out some development news about out it but came up with nothing.

I think it’s a zoning thing… they transferred all the usable square feet from blocks and blocks of low rise tenements that used to be there into those 4 brick towers on the sides… now there is no more sqft to use for developing the middle

Its privately owned and would face astronomical resistance from residents and tenants. I don’t see it being developed anytime soon unless a massive investor buys the whole block which would be a multi-billion dollar purchase based on the land itself. The amount of units to recoup the initial investment would have to be high. Its the equivalent of almost 3 blocks East to West, 3 streets equivalent South to North.

#5 is very much like the 2000’s plates, but I think it’s a good concept that represents the state as a whole better, so it gets my vote.
