NEW YORK | The Vessel | 154 FT

at least at night it doesn’t look like a chicken coop so much

I can hardly wait for Christmastime when it will be red and green.

The fencing makes this look kinda… gaudy? Like, imagine how weather and time (and people vandalizing it here and there) will make this look in the next 5-10 years :face_with_spiral_eyes: If only the fencing somehow added to the design (vs detracting from it) :anxious_face_with_sweat:

Ugly asf and it’s a crime how it isn’t free anymore. Defeats the whole purpose

Again I’m not sure why they didn’t go with black metal supports instead of something white/reflective. Kinda silly.

It looks third world.

Frankly, I found this thing gaudy from the start.

Still an awesome structure. Screw the Bean at 56 Leonard, this is incredibly awesome

I agree. The Bean is more of an afterthought. I always see a lot of tourists in the Hudson Yards area checking out the Vessel.

I believe The Bean was always meant to be a part of the design. It just took them a long ass time to make it. There’s an old promotional video for 56 Leonard and it starts with a silver sphere, then being “crushed” by the first floor above ground to show its true final shape

I believe the same but unlike the Vessel which is essentially a “centerpiece” to HY. the Bean is stuffed under 56 Leonard and rather inconspicuous.

Plus the location is not tourist central.
