Anyone want to take a stab at predicting

  1. Who we might see the first crane from 262 come into view
  2. When 262 blocks this view from DUMBO

I looked on a maps application and I think it may appear to the left if at all of the ESB from this angle. It’s pretty close.

It’s left but just. Those 5 blocks in the southerly direction are going to be critical.

Do we think this the antenna for the NYTimes tower?

NY Times has a smooth antenna, that one doesn’t look smooth.

That antenna is stepped, which is more akin to 4 Times Square’s antenna.

Yes I agree, here’s The NY Times spire

Ok so drawing a line straight thru from 4 Time Square’s antenna right through to the DUMBO side, and I think we’re going to see the ESB get clipped. I have not actually done that mind you…

EDIT: And here is my lame attempt at surveying

This is a diagram I did for 262 Fifth last year showing the impact it would have in terms of view point impacts of the ESB, only those areas in the highlighted triangles will have their views impacted by 262, so we can be assured that it will not be anywhere in the view of the ESB from Dumbo through the Manhattan Bridge pylon. It will be hidden by the pylon itself or 265 Cherry St, but it won’t be visible, (though if it is it wont be by much).

The only project currently planned that will disrupt that view is the 2 towers at 260 South St.
