That was a charming ‘feel good’ article regarding the professional aspirations of these young high school students who dream of some day becoming Architects.
I enjoyed the optimism of that New Yorker piece: but a dose of reality may be in order.
I am concerned about the high rate of unemployment amongst licensed architects and the lack of new positions available for new graduates. The Architecture profession may not be facing complete extinction; but is definitely facing both underemployment and under-utilization of architectural services.
Brooklyn Tower is Architecture with a Capital “A” - and the shoP folks are truly Rock Star Architects. I do hope one of these high school kids get to be a super star too…
