I’m nervous to as what the status of this project is, knowing that the 421a will likely expire before ground breaks. Haven’t seen anything in the news. The website they had to promote the project is seemingly gone from the internet. The project is no longer on the developers website. Hmm.

“If” this gets built, the taller tower would be third tallest in Brooklyn. Behind The Brooklyn Tower and 100 Flatbush. But “if” it gets built, it’ll take until 2030 so it’s highly likely it will be surpassed by several proposals in that time.

I hope it does get built. The website is now back up if you look up the project on google. There hasn’t been any coverage on it at all since Dec 2021. But sometimes a development goes quiet and still ends up being built.

I do love the design. I just wish it could get built faster.

Located just two blocks north of The Refinery and set to break ground in 2026, River Ring will be a model for urban waterfront resiliency and transform the way New Yorkers interact with the water.

This article is so flawed it’s ridiculous. Nowhere does it mention where the developer states the project is “doomed”, just the “goals have shifted”.

Here the developer said in an interview that the project is “untenable in this environment”:

Does this mean this project is moving forward?

That development, dubbed River Ring, will also include around 1,000 new apartments, most of them priced at market-rate. One-bedroom units in other nearby waterfront buildings currently rent for around $7,000 a month, while two-bedrooms go for up to $11,000 a month,

100% so if they’re getting the boot. But let’s see.

The article makes it clear this will be a staging area for the last Domino phase. Not breaking ground on River Ring yet. (But it does mean that project is moving ahead imminently).

The Domino Development has taken advantage of having large staging areas for each phase of construction so far.

It was a bit confusing, but now it makes sense:

it says staging area for the last building at Domino:

Two Trees spokesperson Jeremy Soffin said the company needs the lot as a staging area to store construction equipment and that it has already allowed Oko to use the site rent-free since 2021.

“We are now preparing to begin construction on the last building at Domino, which will deliver more than 250 units of affordable housing, and require use of the site,” Soffin said.

That would be this site - here is an old rendering:
