@Alemel You and @TKDV always come through with these awesome shots. Thank you! I haven’t been able to get into the city for a while so these have really been helping me go less crazy not seeing the progress!
gonna have to scatter these across multiple posts, but here are the photos I took today. (I am by no means a professional photographer.)
the view from Greenwich Street in front of the Oculus.
The east side of the PAC.
Various construction vehicles along Greenwich Street in front of 2 WTC.
Looking South down Greenwich Street.
The elevator to the WTC Cortlandt Street station is visible here.
A more visible view of Vesey Street.
I was kind of right with this prediction, just not with the timeframe.
The entire Vesey Street side of 7 WTC is closed off from Greenwich to Washington Streets.
Lol good, that sidewalk and street was in horrendous conditions, the sidewalk had dips and was unlevel everywhere. Now the side of Vesey north of 2 WTC needs to be fixed (even though any construction for 2WTC would just ruin it)
Does anyone know why they switched the base to black? These pics make me crave for this entire building to be the same stone.
Still looks great though.
I’m just guessing they wanted to make it look like it’s floating.
What a phenomenal building, just don’t go around to the back ![]()
Never posted my haul of pics from Monday, oh well, but I did take these just a few mins ago, they installed the 3 screens. As for the east side, things are wrapping up though im sure it wont open up until possibly Sept, or atleast not until the reshaping of Greenwich St is completed.
this reminded me I also never uploaded the rest of my photos from last week.
looks like a lot more work has gotten done on the east sidewalk of Greenwich since my last visit. thanks for those @TKDV
From your images, it unfortunately looks like the first tree that was planted is dying.
Some good new though is that the live cameras are back online and show a better look at what is going on on Greenwich St and the other areas around the building still being cordoned off. It’s perfectly clear now that they are not only of course regrading and building the rest of Greenwich St, but that they are also bringing the boundary of the 2 WTC sidewalk block to it’s final outline. Though that doesn’t act as a precursor for 2WTC to restart construction, it will allow for an unimpeded flow of pedestrian traffic between Vesey St and Fulton St for the time being.
I’ve also drawn (rough but very accurate) the outline of the eventual sidewalk extent of 2 WTC with the accurate footprint of the original tower’s design.
Webcam is off-line
That is not the link to the same camera, that camera went offline over a year ago.
Makes me wonder if they’ve intentionally got some of the lights off or if there’s glitches in how the lights are ran (as it seems the nearby 1WTC has constant issues with the LEDs they use in its base) ![]()
Hmm a few weeks back there was a photo posted that showed the vertical columns of light so it’s intentional. I’m terms of the horizontal shadows, I think something is sitting in front or close to the windows for staging?
Luckily this building is not run by the Durst Org like One WTC. They don’t seem to give a crap about how their building looks at night.
