Anyone noticed there’s a damaged/missing window on the southern facing side? Been there for a few months now. Not sure why
That side has taken bird strikes before during migration season. The reflection of the sky is too good.
Once broken, it can take a while to fix because the glass needs to be custom ordered for the right match. For some reason they don’t keep spare panes around. When window washers dropped a soap bucket on the lower northeast corner of the tower, it took over a year to be replaced.
The base of the spire is lit by LED floodlights located below the rings.
Oh I know. But look at the top of the rings on that photo above and my photo in the New York Metropolitan Skyline forum, it looks like there’s brighter lights on top
that image looks Beautiful the ghostly lights of Once were The Twin Towers Now Lights of What i Call A Piece Of Remembrance of those who perished inside the towers And I Imagine The Freedom Tower Giving A Moment of Silence
so many lights out at the base
the Image of 1 WTC is actually Pretty cool If i do say so myself, Tower one’s lights are on which “sorta” reminds me of the Old WTC (in my opinion) and Actually I Do Admire The Freedom Tower’s Design I Wonder What 2 WTC’s Lights will Look Like Once Completed But This is Just a Beautiful Image of 1 WTC (Freedom Tower)
That’s Durst for ya
They should just shut the damn lights out. It looks better off anyway. It was always a tacky / stupid idea in replacement of the original base design. The base is just stupid to begin with. Completely unnecessary as they essentially recreated the super block anyway - just more pedestrian friendly. Also Towers 2-4 don’t even have such a fortified entrance compared to 1WTC & 7WTC. Weird. I wish there was a way they could renovate the base to be more street friendly - maybe take down those stupid blast walls and open up the lobby to some natural light. Wishful thinking I’m sure.
