NEW YORK | New York Wheel (Staten Island) | 625 FT

Sometimes being a teenager sucks. High school can be tough but things get better as you get older. @chris08876 is right too. College is an awesome time. Don’t screw up by not studying but also make sure you get out and enjoy it because there’s truly never another time in your life like it.

Then you start working and being an adult has responsibility and shit but it’s also cool because you have more freedom than when you were a kid.

Everything’s got pro’s and con’s dude but you’ll find the balance!

Shame.

This is a failure of project management. Damn shame.

I’ll move this to the visions subforum. Maybe one day!

This was a mob mess from the getgo.

Another thing I’ve been waiting for! Can’t wait for this!

To be clear, the Staten Island ferris wheel is not being built. Instead, another one was built in the Meadowlands.

The SI Wheel isn’t currently u/c. But it will almost certainly be built. The project is mostly completed, as the pavilion was finished years ago. It’s basically done except for the wheel itself, which is a relatively minor cost relative to the overall project.

The firm negotiating to finish the project is talking about 2024-25 as an opening date. And it probably won’t be as tall as initially promised, unfortunately.

The Meadowlands Wheel is a separate project, unrelated to the SI Wheel.

Lets be honest, a 625 foot high ferris wheel is incredible, but probably a bit too much. I don’t have a fear of heights at all, but a 100, 200 or even half height chop could still work with this

I also just found out there’s a new ferris wheel in Dubai called “Dubai Eye” at a crazy height of 820 feet tall. Now that thing better have a good view of the skyline and Burj Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa loves to get high, that’s for sure.

The Wheel gets smaller all the time

This project is such a mess, won’t be surprised if it gets smaller than the Coney Island Ferris wheel.

No point to this. The outlet mall is a bust as well.

At this point, it’s probably better to just redevelop this into a mixed-use development. Amazing transit access to anyone who lives there.
