the singer building should’ve stayed, not necesarily by landmark status but by any means.

Yes. Its replacement, 1 Liberty Plaza, although a handsome building, feels like a tombstone to what preceded it.

007–Your tear it down comment goes along with your prior one on history being irrelevant. And this one is just as silly. We constantly learn from the talents of our predecessors, especially in the arts–painting, sculpture, music, drama, and, of course, architecture. And this building is a gem that we can continue to learn from.

I couldn’t find anything relating to this building being landmarked.
NYC Landmarks Commission has a nice interactive map of landmarked structures and this one isn’t on it or the National Register of Historic Places.
