I know right. Still LGA terminal B is amazing …lol.

Looks amazing. It seems FL’s making the switch to glass jetbridges too. (Why can’t the PANYNJ put them in their new airports, there’s plenty of cool views here)

The overall shape with the sloping curved roofs reminds me of LGA’s amazing Terminal B as well.

1st thing i noticed. Kansas City got em for its new airport as well. I wish PANYNJ would have gone ahead with it, but it is asking too much.

Miami International Airport started installing them relatively recently as well and that is a major airport comparable in size to JFK.

So true… Portland Oregon’s airport has a very beloved carpet, you can even buy it printed on various items: PDX NEXT - Psst! The carpet’s back

Here are some easy ways to make JFK less sucky:

  1. Make the luggage carts free. This is my biggest pet peeve. Nobody should have to pay $5 to “borrow” a cart for 10 minutes.

  2. Make the rip off Air Train free in all ways from all locations.

  3. Put some plants inside

  4. No separate car park for Uber, there should be taxis at this door and ubers/lyfts at this door a couple hundred feet away

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Agree 10000% with the carts and the airtrain being free. I know that nothing in life is free, but figure it out like the so many other countries have.

Looks like the new JFK terminals will all have lot of plants inside.

It’s been revealed who one of the installers of digital signage at JFK T1 and T6 is: Clear Channel.

As a bonus, they’ve shared renders of what some of their installations may look like. These signs will likely have advertisements and other information displayed on them.

These renders almost fooled me but are definitely AI. Surprisingly accurate to the real buildings

They might not be AI, as I don’t see typical “artifacts” or flaws that distinguish AI images from non-AI renders. They definitely aren’t polished like the official renders, but I kind of expect that since they’re just to show off what the signage may look like.

The Terminal One renders look more convincing, but if you give the T6 images a second look, it’s clear.

Yeah, I see it now. It’s honestly not a big deal in this situation. I wouldn’t be surprised if they fed the AI prompt real renders to at least make them convincing.

I think you’re right. It’s not a bad way to do quick renders—I’m more impressed than anything.

These dont seem to be AI, these appear to just be low res rendered images of a 3d model which had some people originally rendered from the model and others photoshopped (bad people perspectives) in while the LED signs are also photoshopped in (and some other material textures).

In the first image, is that massive display above an area with check-in counters? I’m trying to understand what that is.

I’ve been in film and television production for my entire adult life and I can’t tell the difference anymore between a factual image and one created by AI. Maybe my eyes are bad now, but I believe AI is actually too good for anyone to really tell.

These particular images seem antiquated 2nd gen AI – we’re way beyond that now. If you’re not using the paid tools, you’re really not seeing the possibilities.

Regarding T6, a piece was written in Airport News that discusses (sadly, no photos) some current work. TSA and CBP are still testing their system,s and interior finishes continue to be installed.

The JFKR quarterly newsletter just dropped and had some great updates. The yellow-orange garage connector opens this month, meaning the permanent T5 garage egress condition via the former T7 toll plaza becomes operational and frees up the remaining space for T6’s awesome arrivals plaza and GTC to be constructed. Systems testing is underway at both terminals, and the permanent T4 garage toll plaza will open soon, allowing for the T4 surface lot to finally close.

Terminal 6 looks very utilitarian chic. Not super fancy for a brand new terminal. Design feels like a decade old one.

It reminds me a bit of LGA Terminal B. Both are developed by Vantage Airport Group so that’s probably somewhat intentional.
