After LGA and EWR Terminal A success, i have toned down my criticism for PA when it comes to airports. I am hopeful that JFK will be as good as LGA/EWR Terminal A.
Still no excuse for moving so slow on EWR Terminal B’s redevelopment.

The air train redevelopment is even worse. They announced an intent to upgrade it when they started Terminal A, and only now are they starting construction. Everything with EWR is completely laughable and moves at such a glacial pace.
You’d think they’d start construction and have things in order, so that at least a new, functional air train can actually serve the new terminal. I feel for anyone who has to use the airtrain to get to Terminal A, as it’s a hike and part of it requires walking outdoors.
I try to avoid EWR for the same reason. Unfortunately a lot of the flights i take are from EWR terminal B/C.
Coming back to Terminal B from an international flight is a disgusting experience. The carpets are patched with duct tapes.
Awesome shot of the new T6’s post security departures hall. I genuinely believe this terminal should be ready by the start of summer.
On the other hand, most sources are indicating that T1 will open “later in the year,” likely slipping to Q3 or Q4.
T6 has a much smaller footprint, so I can see why it’d open before T1. T1 is huge and, based upon recent photos, a lot of work is still going on.
Rumor is that T1 is expected to open at the end of October.
Thats a bummer given the FIFA world cup in the summers. Hope they expedite it.
On LinkedIn, some new photos of the ongoing Terminal 6 TSA checkpoint construction were shared by K2, Inc.
Was at JFK last night and saw T6 all lit up, with some very nice lighting featuring around the skylights.
This looks oddly old for something new
the 1990s New Rochelle mall called and they wanted their carpet back
T6 design seems very mid for a brand new expensive airport.
Also, the carpet design across US airports is super bland and boring when compared with the ones in Asia.
“Mid” is the best the PANYNJ can deliver.
I think LGA Terminal B is not mid.
Probably the only exception. The neighboring Terminal C was originally going to be more ambitious and more cohesive with Terminal B but since Delta had a significant stake in it, they had influence over its design. It’s not terrible either but the PANYNJ should really strive to make all their airports as high quality as that.
This may be (it’s not their only issue by a long shot), but through projects like LGA, JFK and now the PABT, they’re becoming a formidable player in capital project delivery.
Maybe when they finally get going at EWR Terminal B, they’ll be able to do something special!
I agree with Terminal C. It is good, but not amazing like the Terminal B is. I do like EWR Terminal A as well. It is also pretty amazing and rightfully got Skytrax 5 stars.
Lets see how JFK terminal 1 comes out. I won’t underestimate PANYNJ after LGA terminal B & EWR Terminal A.
My problem with EWR terminal B is that it moving very slow. The vision plan came out in Oct 2024 and thats it.
Everything at EWR is moving slow.
Compared to JFK and LGA, it’s an absolute embarrassment. It didn’t feel like it had been a long time since JFK T1 and T6 were announced, and construction actually started, with both opening up sometime this year. LGA was built when COVID was still an issue, and it was still completed relatively quickly. Meanwhile, all we got with EWR Terminal B is a vision plan that doesn’t amount to anything, and Terminal A, which experienced a number of delays and was opened over a year later than expected.
