NEW YORK | Hudson Yards Phase 2 | 1366 + 1189 + 1172 FT | 80 +80 + 74 FLOORS

I kinda like this site plan. The office tower looks like it might be short and stubby, just because of the large lot but I don’t know the sqft either

That park + residential are gonna make the highline explode even more than it already does.
That plus the connection to MW 1&2, which in turn connects to Penn Station, are all gonna be amazing.

Now they need to extend it to the pier, and choose archiliers design for the PABT

I think that the office tower is at least 900’ tall.

That older map, doesn’t really show the figurative/theoretical outline of the actual tower on top of the podium which appears as a narrow and long tower similar to One Madison Avenue. It’s proposed to be atleast 2 million sqft. So about the same floor area as 10 Hudson Yards.

Mcart mentioned a Marina Bay Sands type of building for phase two of the Hudson Yards. I think this is a great idea, especially if Moishe Safdie is the architect. It shouldn’t just be a casino but an entire entertainment destination with a hotel.

The Hudson Yards right now is pretty sterile. Phase two needs more interesting architecture and Safdie’s buildings with their geometries and oversizes skybridges is exactly what the neighborhood needs to break away from the corporate boxes.

idk about HY phase 2. All of the sites are set and I’m sure the designs are already being locked in by related. They’ll probably be similar to phase 1.

But yes, I’d love to see a building by those architects. Not only did they design the marina bay sands, but they also designed Jewel Changi airport, recognized globally as the best airport in the world. And a ton of other cool stuff.

I’m almost positive the programming for Phase Two is still in flux. Covid changed everything. I’m sure there will be elements from the original site plan (housing, school, etc), but Related will do what makes sense for their bottom line.

Agreed, NYC could use a luxury casino like the Marina Bay Sands/Monte Carlo/ The casinos in Macao

I would really like to see what kind of designs they would come up with for NY.

Do we know what sqft or FAR or whatever the sites in phase 2 will have?

Zoning maps have only shown FAR calculations for all the other sites within the Hudson Yards Special districts, the only thing that has been set in place for Phase II are the guidelines that must be followed at groundlevel for facade treatment and the max area dimensions/ layout of the towers themselves.

That would be amazing.

Whether I’m exited or not depends on how big this will be.

If it’s like the tiny casino in Boston, I’ll pass.

If it’s a 600-700 footer with magnificent features like that waterfall in Las Vegas, I will be really excited.

Encore Boston Harbor is not a tiny casino by any means, sure the hotel tower itself is only 319 ft tall, but the overall property is almost 3 times bigger than the area of Phase II. But thinking it will be tiny is out of the question, that would be a big loss to Related if the resort and towers are small.

As for Aria Las Vegas (which I’d assume is the waterfall feature you are referring to), that is more comparable to the lot size of Phase II, so something similar is completely possible, the width of the hotel tower(s) would be in question though because Aria is an extremely wide building. I’d assume that there would be multiple hotel towers and possibly condominiums if the whole of Phase II is being considered for the site of a casino resort.

Well this explains why it’s taken so long to hear any news about Phase 2. Can’t really imagine a better place for a Manhattan casino, if one is going to happen.

Bellagio. Not a waterfall, but that fountain they have. I misspoke.

If a casino were to be built there, then that would be the perfect neighbor for a new MSG built on the river.

Oh then I’d say it wouldn’t ever be like that at all, fountains like that need a lot of space, and Lake Bellagio itself is 2/3rds the size of Phase II, trying to fit a profitable/ideal program in 1/3 the space land wouldn’t make sense, or would result in it being small. I also don’t think Related would want to waste the real estate on the property itself for a lake, if they wanted they could try to install fountains (with all the approvals that alone would need) on the opposite side of the westside highway in the Hudson River.

Something on the scale of Aria’s Porte Cochere waterwall is more in line with being possible in this scenario.

IF built, this could be the most iconic and luxurious casino in the world.

Wynn is probably salivating about drawing in all those bankers and tech nerds and their six figure bonuses.

Wynn Resorts maybe, but not Steve Wynn. lol

It’s hard to say if it would be the most iconic, considering all of the Wynn Resorts around the world (US and Macau) all look the same, so I wouldn’t be surprised if those designs (the swooping curve brown glass architecture) are just applied in this case. Most luxurious is also questionable. I don’t think it just “being” in NYC qualifies something to be the most “anything”.
