NEW YORK | Central Park Tower (217 W 57th St) | 1,550 FT | 98 FLOORS

One of the nighttime renderings that was posted a little while ago seems to indicate that this is not part of the design anymore.

That perspective confirms that at least three sides are fully lit since the front is fully lit and I assume that’s the back facing north. The side that faces NJ and the Hudson is a bit spotty.

They closed the roof @ The Edge but I went up anyway (no line, if you don’t count all the ticketholders trying to re-book) Visibility went from zero to totally clear in less than 5 minutes but windspeed was still too strong for them to open up.

The terrace did eventually re-open but I didn’t stick around for the sunset I’m afraid. After the mist cleared out it was anti-climactic.

FYI, If there is a wind advisory (gale force etc) they will close the deck. Visibility wasn’t the issue. Just wind and lightning. BTW, New Years Eve they’re closing at 6pm for a private event.
