NEW YORK | Central Park Tower (217 W 57th St) | 1,550 FT | 98 FLOORS

Looks like Extell doesn’t like One WTC’s spire…or they’re trying to fool the public that CPT is the tallest in the city

In a way, depending on who’s measuring, it technically is, but isn’t. The age old “do spires count” or “not” viewpoint.

But either way, 2nd tallest, still a great achievement.

“Verryyy niiiiceee” as Borat would say.

One Vanderbilt, Central Park Tower and 111 West 57 will all be complete next year. I’d say the latest they’re done is by Summer or Fall, One Vanderbilt will be done in February

Well, today’s order from Cuomo looks like it will shut down most construction, so…

Hadn’t heard that - thanks for sharing.

I thought that at first too, but the list of ‘essential’ businesses as defined from yesterday’s orders included “all skilled trades”, which is how they’ve been doing work for so long already. So unless they revamped the list of essential businesses, this new order wouldn’t stop anything unless it was voluntary.

That’s not how I read it. It allows:

9. Construction including

  • skilled trades such as electricians, plumbers
  • other related construction firms and professionals for essential infrastructure or for emergency repair and safety purposes

The fact that they single out “essential infrastructure or for emergency repair and safety purposes” makes it sound like any other construction is not allowed.

Yeah, it sure sounds that way, but at the same time construction has been continuing exempt from any restrictions. So the ‘skilled trades’ thing must be getting around that. Or it’s all just corrupt.
Because that list has been around all week and the job sites have been 100% staffed even as offices have been gutted.
Edit: this is from a new article on CBS:

So I think all construction is exempt

Does that mean that One Vanderbilt won’t be complete in the month of August of this year as anticipated?

Office probably will but maybe not retail and underground?

I assume a worker got the virus. I don’t see a reason why they would otherwise suspend work when guidance still allows for it.
