This type of shed should be mandated so long as they keep this idiotic local shed law as is.
These landlords determine that it’s cheaper to leave a shed up indefinitely then it is to actually complete the work.
So the calculus should be simple: make it more expensive to keep a shed up than to do the work. Every six months the fine goes up, and when it hits a certain threshold the city can put a lien on to collect. And make a shed like this — which doesn’t obstruct the street — mandatory.
If you can’t afford to maintain your building so that it’s safe, then you can’t afford to own a building in New York City.

This trio is rather grungy looking, this stretch of 57th is kinda dumpy considering its 57th street, lots of vacant lots & vacant retail. Only the corner on 5th ave is nice really
