Thanks for the great progress photos….

This design firm “designs differently”. I am not sure what it is , but there is an artful elegance to every project done by Snohetta - 50 West 66th is one of my favorites.

Excerpt - While the firm’s style is fluid, one element is present in every project: a visual boldness that manages to morph nature and architecture into one.

These five projects showcase how Snohetta designs differently, and leave us wondering what they will do next.

If it is not offensive I might say that it is that unique Scandanavian design aesthetic that sets it apart.

An angel of the Lord has come to trumpet the arrival of this new architectural masterpiece: This is Angel Moroni of the Church of Ladder Day Saints. Everything about this project I find to be ‘inspiring’.

The architectural design of this building is truly ‘transcendent’…:innocent:

Great photo.

That Hearst Tower should not have been reduced to that ‘stump’ of a total allowable height. That glass/metal facade, the protruding & receding triangular shapes; all reaching tall into the sky would look fantastic.

The hight variations, and set backs on all the other buildings look beautifully varied: so it’s all look pretty good. :star_struck:

who else is worried about how they will ruin the top of this?

That slightly angled roof detail is an elegant design feature: AND seems simple enough to be ‘buildable’.

What would really ruing this is one of those huge window washing cranes attached to the top of the building. That is a feature that is sometimes omitted from rendering and suddenly appears post construction.

We will see, but the possibility that the crown gets value engineered into some simplified detail is a valid concern. Time will tell.
