I just don’t understand why they need 5 years to build a 900 foot tower. I guess if they incorporate the VSC into the footprint somehow they’ll need to dig deep. I hope they incorporate an entrance plaza from the tower to Liberty Park.
That design is lame. I’d be ok with it in the HY on 10th Ave. but not here.
Yeah WTC deserves top notch architecture and this is not it.
They’d be doing cartwheels for this 920-foot tower in every downtown in America.
It would be the centerpiece and crown jewel in all but a very few.
We are spoiled.
I just wish it were taller.
But this NOT some random downtown. This is the World Trade Center, one of the most iconic and recognizable addresses on the planet.
Well. I don’t necessarily disagree. But that ship sailed many years ago.
They should have rebuilt the Twins twice as tall.
Oh well.
I think the base is meant to harmonize with the surrounding prewar buildings. And the tower cladding looks like it might be top notch. We’re also assuming this is the final design, while the program is set, the exterior design probably isnt
I am a bit curious as to how this building will connect with the rest of the WTC campus. Does anyone know if this site will be directly linked to the underground mall/transportation hall in the fashion that WTC 1/3/4 are?
I don’t think it will be that bad. The important thing is that it will likely have very good build quality, being a WTC building with Brookfield involved. Build quality often trumps real design
After what they did to One World Trade Center’s spire, 3 World Trade Center’s cross bracing and neutering, not to mention 2 World Trade Center you all are still expecting something special here? Look elsewhere. Midtown is where it’s at.
This is sadly 100% accurate. But the WTC should be the center point of New York City. We need an impressive 2 WTC built as soon as possible! There is no reason why it can’t be taller than One WTC at this point.
9/10 times, maybe 9/11, Kohn Pedersen Fox should be replaced by Cook Fox.
The height, visualized by the awesome Thomas above, shows the spiral effect planned by Libeskind. Glad they kept that aspect of it. The design is okay…could be better but it could also be a lot worse. As bpc said, the build quality from Brookfield means it’s in good hands. Let’s see what the final, value-engineered version looks like lol
I’m gonna have to revise my model once I come home from Philadelphia. I did not catch the heights on those diagrams, but I did make the tower 920 feet
