I like this tower a lot, but this POS a little further up Church must go!
It always blows my mind to see there are still 1 and 2 story buildings in Manhattan.
Would have thought all of those would have been torn down and replaced by taller buildings decades ago
They’re called taxpayer buildings and the owners are looking at long term investment. Plus they can borrow against the land.
In some cases, the air rights have been sold. For example, when they built 19 Dutch, they bought and used the air rights for almost the whole block. So nothing that tall will ever rise next door to it.
Why is this place stalled? Does anyone know
Was wondering why this site was so inactive and it turns out the contractors withdrew from the site. The developer musta gone bust a la 125 Greenwich. It’s a shame because this building is a bit of a sore thumb from many angles right now
Damn, this city is all about progress. How can anyone just leave a skyscraper unfinished??
Woooow. That’s crazy.
I hope they sealed things up well and are trying to sell it immediately, and someone picks it up soon. The longer it sits unfinished, the more inevitable water damage, etc, and the more things will need to be redone. A restart gets more expensive every day, therefore this building is losing value by the day.
I’m guessing someone will buy it and turn it into rentals.
I don’t see any move toward dismantling the tower crane yet, and that rental can’t be cheap. That’s a good sign that’s it’s not being mothballed yet.
the floorplates are too small for a rental building – most likely they will play the waiting game like 125 greenwich or the leaning seaport one
There is supposed to be a mosque built after the tower is complete.
