Should this building be moved to ‘under construction’ now that equipment is in place and construction is imminent?

Fulton street is such a dump.

So they did raze that second empire building on Fulton next to Gage & Tollner? That’s too bad.

I’m having trouble orienting and making sense of those elevations.

This is just east of that new triangular building.

So they’re not building completely around Gage & Tollner? So what’s happening at the on the corner of Fulton and Smith? And why is the one building next to Gage & Tollner still up?

Sorry, I don’t know.

What’s getting built where is really confusing with this project and those elevations posted don’t make it much clearer. Not only is the old handsome building next to Gage&Tollner not shown when I thought I heard it was being saved, the elevations, if I’m viewing them right, appear to show some lowrise on the corner as well as something on the corner of Red Hook Lane which, obviously, is not the case.

What we need is a real rendering.

Great shots. Unfortunately, that building/corner has looked like that for close to a year. Looks like they started tearing down the building on the left but stopped. (there is no roof/top level is very exposed in the back). For those who don’t know, the building with Gage & Tollner is landmarked. It cannot be torn down. The restaurant is active and, from what I hear, quite beautiful. I thought this project would build around and completely envelop the Gage and Tollner building but, for now, it doesn’t look like that other building is coming down anytime soon.

Yeah, what’s happening here is super confusing. Best case scenario is they have taken the old second empire building and gutted it to its shell with the plan to save its facade and build a new structure inside either for Gage & Tollner expansion or for this new development. Strange as it sounds, the fact the demo is stalled may be a good sign.

Confirmed, Gage & Tollner has an excellent brunch (and the martinis are pitch perfect).

Interestingly, the Gage and Tollner building is not landmarked, but the interior is.

That is interesting
