No you don’t
I thought he couldn’t get the Venezuelan Embassy, no?
That doesn’t necessarily mean the project is dead, especially not for someone like Macklowe who obviously wants a trophy tower before he dies (or retires, whichever happens first)
Tall, taller, the tallest. Those skyscrapers that once towered above their surroundings are now themselves in the shadow of new giants. I wonder how Midtown will look 50 years from now.
I didn’t say it was dead, I said not “in its current iteration”
I mean there’s no telling whether it’ll be in the current iteration or not. Who knows. I just wanna see movement on the site from something
We do know that it can’t be built in its current iteration though, theres no arguing about that because the tower can’t be constructed/planned as intended because the plan included air rights and the land/lot from where the Venezuelan Consulate building stands.
“Whether” implies the future. We do not know what will happen in the future. But regardless my point was that the site was still in play and I’d like to see movement from it.
There was never a whether in the former comment, it was talking about the iteration as it is, regardless of it being in the future it cannot be built as intended because of the current changes at play.
That’s a good point, as the Macklowe project as we know it is currently on the rocks – but it was a bit of a challenge because the photo I edited was originally a Tower Fifth rendering!
Update to my previous rendering on a photo by NYGuy on SSP:
A MASSIVE thank you for removing Tower Fifth. I know I did the same thing a few years ago, but this is flawless
Absolutely. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
By 2035-2040 With the huge amount of new towers, Park Ave and Lexington Ave are gonna look amazing. Nothing to envy to Singapore or Shanghai.
Hands down to this amazing city that keeps evolving.
Rendering alongside Chase and the Commodore, photo by @NewYorkCity76:
Stretched to around 1600’ – it would be quite a sight!
Amazing!!!
Love it! Thank you!
It does fit right in.
These buildings are going to create almost a Hudson Yards type cluster within a skyline.
And it’s just the start. There’s many more sites to develop over the years
There will be 100 supertalls in Manhattan in most millennials’ lifetimes.
Midtown alone will be home to around 50.
Then Hudson Yards and downtown.
New York! America!
