Permits have been filed for a 32-story mixed-use building at 30 West 37th Street in Midtown South, Manhattan. Located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, the interior lot is near the 42nd Street–Bryant Park subway station, served by the B, D, F, and M trains. Jack Yadidi of Fy & Sons TIC LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 418-foot-tall development will yield 85,894 square feet, with 85,440 square feet designated for residential space and 454 square feet for commercial space. The building will have 95 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 899 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 20-foot-long rear yard.
Damir Sehic of C3D Architecture is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits were filed this month for the two-story structure on the site. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
Ah, I don’t really know why that quote was shared here, the quote is talking about something else (some other cancelled/visionary proposal that had a new PABT above a new Penn south station). Its not related to this proposal.
Astonishing the funhouse mirror clad little trash next door won’t be part of this development. Do we know if air rights were bought so this new building could have lot line windows?
I think we’ve made an assumption here that isn’t accurate. This proposal, to the best of my knowledge, is slated for the current single lot at 28-30 W 37, which is the hideous warehouse looking structure, but does not include the tiny little mirrored building at 26 W 37 or the two heavily modified setback walkups at 32 and 34 W 37.
If this is true, it would call into question whether anything could ever be built of any scale on either side. Time will tell if the plans evolve to expand the assemblage.
