NEW YORK | 270 Park Ave | 1,389 FT | 70 FLOORS

Some of the guys on this forum might have more information but to my understanding they actually have these enormous task listings which lay out long term schedules of movements, and then this gets broken down by managers into daily agendas of different beams, equipment, etc. that needs moving and which crane does which when. It’s pretty beautiful to watch a major site like this just run like clockwork

Will this building be almost topped out before we know the design and height?

yes. and all of that movement and order and sequence was determined over 2 years ago. before they order any material.

day to day adjustments of course, but the path is set way in advance.

and it happens for every trade.

It’s literally like a toolpath for “3D printing” a building. Pretty neat.

I agree! Would be massive even when reaching the first setback.

What floor is the first setback?

My guess would be 12 floors above the podium.

It’s beautiful out and you can tell it’s partly cloudy in NY today in the photo sequence. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I was going to say I can’t wait until it pops out in this cam shot, but the cranes are visible

I’m really hoping this tops out above 1400ft even if it’s just the parapet or something. It would be great to have a commercial building in the city joining the heights of CPT and 111 57th.

What if it were just 80 feet taller and broke the Willis Tower?

That would be a dream come true!

I walked by today with just my cell. It’s really difficult to capture this building in its entirety–both physically and emotionally. There were several people gawking at it at every angle I walked around. Not just tourists, but office workers as well. It has such a huge monolith quality. Like a mothership that has landed. It’s hard to describe, I was transfixed. It’s amazing that almost 100 years after the first skyscrapers went up, the same feelings of genuine awe are still evoked. I highly suggest if you’re around the city to just walk by it. Even at this stage, it’s incredible.

But the sad thing is at 1388 feet it would be the shortest building going up around Park Avenue.

Per NYguy?
Rising nicely, and now officially cleared. (Not that there was any doubt).

Thanks Baronson! You captured it well - with both words and images. I don’t think any recent building can match this, the scale of the site is not easy to comprehend.

Totally agree B. As you say, photos fail to convey the physical and emotional impact this has in person. Part of the problem is you can’t really get far enough back on 47th or 48th streets. The protective sheds further cut off the focal point where all that steel meets the ground, truncating the drama of the dancers plié so to speak.

The photos don’t convey how massive this building will be.

^ Pictures tend to make things looks smaller than if you’re standing right in front of them.
