Some 1957 photos I found showing when the Hotel Marguery was being demolished for this. I find it odd knowing that 270 is in almost the same state.
This lot does seem to have a track record of short lived buildings, makes you wonder how long the next one will last or if it will break the curse.
Park Avenue really is about to be a full on PILE of supertalls and Im not mad about it.
I’m kinda wondering how this will impact 1 Vandy. Being somewhat close, like from an aesthetic standpoint with respect to its position in the skyline when viewed from the East, facing West.
I kinda like that Vandy has that dominance at the moment, like the ESB. Things like Grand Hyatt in the future, if its a dominant super tall lets just say, will kinda impact the current 1 Vandy viewpoint.
I just hope the designs for those are decent. Would suck to have a gem like 1 Vandy next to a POS.
Our Father…
Deliver us from Norman!
Amen!!!
Can someone please mention/@ me when the design drops so I get an email notification? I just want front row seats to Robert’s reaction at this point haha.
Based on the description, I wonder if it will look like a very tall, squared version of Foster’s Willis tower in London.
Can whoever it was who has seen the design comment about this speculation re: a tall, square version of Willis?
the old building on the side 270 Park Ave.
It is not a tall square Willis
Have you seen the design, Yimby? If so, how many setbacks does it have and is it good or boring like 50 HY?
Getting flashbacks of the Deutsche Bank building demolition. That was a dark time.
I’m not even excited to see the rendering. I don’t think it will be anything.
I suspect that the “massing models” we’ve seen accurately depict the shape of the tower.
Then again, I guess not since it’s supposed to “fan out” four times, and someone said that there’s a setback which corresponds to each one. Foster has burdened us with so much garbage, so my expectations are low.
Our Father who art in Heaven…
Deliver us from Foster!!!
Amen
As per Dante, will Norm’s 270 Park be the seventh circle?
those are not accurate
