Don’t want to get too far off topic, but removal of the watermark does not relieve those who use the images of potential copyright liability. It doesn’t them make “fair game.” (I’ve taught copyright law for decades.)
Grainy photo, but you can see the mass of the tower here from Goethal’s Bridge…it’s MASSIVE
And here’s the cranes and incoming structure popping out from Fort Wadsworth
I love it when the sledge hammers come out.
After 5 or 6 hours of freezing cold I could barely hold onto my camera…never mind swinging a hammer from a boom lift (or whatever they’re called).
Per NYguy:
If you needed a comparison of the size of this one to other projects. 270 Park is 2.5 Million sqft
Nice to see a record of the platform being taken down, as opposed to there being no record of it. I was wondering when it was going to actually come down when previous photos showed that the decking was being removed and now its just all suddenly gone lol.
I’d imagine that cladding will be installed this coming week, since projections have just been moving a week ahead each time they are mentioned… (IE. Last week it was this week and the week before it was last week, etc etc). So the construction schedule is slightly behind about 1-2 weeks.
And as @ALC11 pointed out, the facade panels have been gathering on the 3rd floor, though only visibly on that floor. But there shouldn’t be any speculation that they “might” or possibly be the facade, because they without a doubt are.
I didn’t know about this policy - I thought that correctly displaying their name was good enough. I won’t do it again.
Almost taller than the previous 270!
I really preferred photographing the west side of 270 specifically because the platform created a sense of drama with it’s overhang on Madison Ave.
You’ve shaded 2 too many floors , new steel has only been added 2 floors above the mech floor. But generally it passed half way when the Mechanical floor was built.
@mcart It has actually now passed its predecessor.
@5Bfilms I didn’t like it because It was in the way lol. Whereas the Park Ave side has the construction elevator, the Madison Ave side had no obstructions but for the platform. I think one can much more appreciate the structure itself now on that side.
Outside of that, your snaps show a secondary structure has been installed to hang the circular grid of panels that will cover the 2nd floor before the tabletop. The black support structure on the fan columns in particular also gives us a slight indication of how thick the column panels will make them appear after installed.
Yes, two floors are complete above the mech, so they are more bold. Then the two floors above are more see through because those are the floors they’re putting up now
The mech is the highest completed floor right now there are only columns above it at the moment. The mech is the very tall floor in the diagram, your slightly shaded floors should be 2 floors lower, hence you shaded 2 too many floors.
@5Bfilms You need to stop posting your amazingly picturesque photos man, It’s making me all the more eager to be able to see this building everyday in the coming days.
@TK2000 This is what I’m trying to say, the mech floor (level 29) is shaded in blue in this image from 5B from yesterday (which is what I’m assuming you may have based your diagram ledger on), it’s not the taller floor below that. The top of the columns reach level 32, not 34.
Bro, this pic is AMAZING!! Love the black and white added!
Thanks @NewYorkCity76. I meant to post this on the 4th of July but never got around to it.
Regardless of the date, this is still a very picturesque photo. You might be my rival when it comes to photography lol.
Berenice Abbott and Margaret Bourke-White are our true rivals, We’re lucky if we’re 1/2 as good as those two photographic giants! Here’s hoping we can reach those heights NewYorkCity76
I agree! And Berenice Abbott is actually my favorite New York photographer due to her photos of skyscrapers. Most of her photos feels immersive lol.
I could imagine if she’s photographed 270 Park as of now.
Possibly the best photo ever taken of NYC. In the days before you could just hop on a doors-off chopper or a drone that practically flies itself
