Also - what are the platforms they are putting up? Are they to help install the facade?

I could guess that this week or next week we will see the first glass panels on the building.

I think that the Burberry building should be converted to a condo. It’s a beautiful building, but it’s probably not well-suited to office space.

I’ve been thinking about this. I think essentially every pre-1960 office building with small floor plates should be converted to residential.

I was also wondering what they were when they first appeared a few days ago but yes I would believe them to be facade installation platforms, possibly similar to the temporary maintenance platforms one normally sees atop buildings (like those that were at Sutton Tower, Brooklyn Tower, The Spiral, etc)

If the construction schedule is holding true, panels may start arriving on site/being installed this week or next week. It’s interesting that the fan columns and some of the beams are not being fireproofed though.

This forum will go crazy when the first pane of glass goes up.

The first set of glass & panel is scheduled to be installed in the next week or two, unless there’s a delay which there shouldn’t be. :slightly_smiling_face:

A member on SSC sent this image to me, it was posted by a LinkedIn account of a JPMC high up employee in their tech sector.

It seems the crown lighting will be animated like those at Manhattan West and the One WTC base, probably closer to the latter. I personally can’t verify the validity of the image though, but would assume it’s real if it was posted by an employee.

Very nice surprise rather than it just changing solid colors or staying white. It’s just a matter of how often it will animate.

I had a feeling Foster would do that with another tower in NYC. 425 Park’s lanterns are awesome

I thought the same thing. I look forward to 350 Park too.

But my GOD does the Comcast Technology Center need a lighting renovation. They lit the spine green from floor 6-60 for the Eagles in the Super Bowl. But the lantern at the top stayed white

They did just re-do the lighting on the first Comcast building. Before, only the top row could change colors. Now the whole crown can change colors.

Crane dismantling has begun for one of the 2 cranes that is being removed. I didn’t think they would do this until the 3rd tier was reached. That changes my time line assumptions slightly. I believe the furthest right one is the other that will be disassembled.

correct

should take until early/mid next week to get this one down, then the balance of that week through mid the following week to get the other one down.

they are probably a tier or so away from the setback.

tell you a couple of things. the floor size doesnt support four cranes anymore, and there are no more pieces that require the use of two cranes to lift from the street

JRF,

When do you think that this will top out?

maybe late this year or early next year?

I think a lot depends on weather and how much gymnastics are involved with the upper part of the building.

Yeah, I was aware of that much, I just didn’t know they would’ve done it now. I know theres 8 more normal sized floors until the setback after this mechanical floor.

it seems a little early to me as well.

perhaps they are buying some time for material to catch up with them…
