My only objection at this point is the large & uneven spacing between each of the large panel sections. However, I suspect that those gaps will be precision adjusted at some point going forward: so I will wait and see.
This cladding is super hight quality, and I like the look from the ‘street-level’ vantage point. This material may loose that luster, and attractive shimmer at the ‘vicinity’ vantage point; and certainly from the ‘skyline’ vantage point. This too is a wait-and-see proposition.
Glass looks good, I’ll wait to see how the whole thing comes together
I can see that the warping on the glass is going to be significant because they are large, something that will be even more apparent on the 3 way panels since these are the 5 way panels. The end results for the spandrel is not that nice, it looks very flat, the initial iteration atleast had some depth with the notch cut into it.
Agreed…the spandrel feels very cheap. A bit worried that we’re going to see the same application on the eastern face
My favorite photo from FC: so vivid. Field Condition never disappoints.

I have feeling this is going to be a mess. The glass looks like it belongs in a fun house.
Love this. They could name it Fun House.
Formwork and safety cocoon are nearly all removed, finally exposing the top of the superstructure
Not that I had high hopes or liked the building before it was slightly altered, but I am extremely disappointed with the cladding quality, it is very low. Forget about it blocking the ESB, it and the cladding are just unappealing.
I think I need to see more before I make a final judgement but I can at least tell I won’t love it.
I could stomach losing the iconic view from Madison Sq Park and along 5th Ave if this were a RAMSA or Stern classical looking building, but this is truly saddening
RAMSA is Stern though
Lols aside, I agree that more needs to be put up but I personally don’t think it will get better, I think anyone could’ve designed something better for the site regardless of the style.
Reserving my judgement until I see more - but I’m not disappointed, only because my expectations were, sadly, very low.
Those seams are just awful. It looks like insulbrick.
Updated my rendering with the facade elements that have been revealed so far:
I suspect that the Fifth Avenue facade will also be comprised of the randomised brick pattern, but I have left it as polished aluminium in my model for now because I have no idea how the geometry of the bricks will interact with the circular portholes.
So far not good. I agree with the general tenor of comments here so far. The panels seem cheap, the seams (though subject to caulking later) are awful, and the glass seems to be of lesser quality. I always wait and see but on this one so far so bad.
