Nice zoom lens

Yes, nice zoom shot of the ESB.

Here is something for those on this thread advocating to keep the ‘sight lines’ to the Empire State Building protected.

How is this for a Sight Line… :star_struck:

Actual photo taken from NJ shortly after the building was constructed.

^Great shot. I thought I knew all of the 1920s-1930s towers in NYC, but didn’t recognize that one to the right of the Empire State. Spent some time on google maps trying to figure it out, and in case anyone is wondering, I’m pretty sure it’s the Nelson Tower aka 450 Seventh Avenue. Was not aware of it previously.

Absolutely iconic, best reveal of all time. Truly breathtaking when you approach the tunnel and see the ESB materialize like that. Really cool shot, thanks for that @infoshare .
The pace of change in the city is such that some of these iconic vistas will not be around for very long.

Nelson tower was the largest garment district building in its time.

Looks like they’re working on another mechanical floor, which is why the vertical progress seems slow a little

The design of this Condo is brilliant in terms of the innovative approach to the use of the exterior mechanical core; and the unusual apartment plans, size and massive double height windows.

I am the #1 fan of this building here on NY YIMBY…

Excerpt from the website: This project challenges norms of construction, by breaking down and re-arranging the core elements of a building. The spine of the building (Elevator shafts and engineering components) is separate from the body. Instead of running through the centre of the building, it will run alongside it, providing residents with unobstructed panoramic views of the city, and pillar-less open plan living environments.

No glass yet? I keep my fingers crossed, that it will be high quality

I’m also a big fan, I was just too afraid to say anything.

Haha… I’m a big fan too! Quite controversial fan base we have. It stands out, like a sore thumb, but in a good way. It adds to the diversity of our beautiful cityscape.

I have disdain for quite a few buildings that have gone up but I won’t fight the pulse of NYC development. My gripe about this one has always been location but this is the nature of the city. For moments of time you gain and then lose certain vistas and sightlines of buildings. It’s ephemeral. Our city isn’t stagnant and for that I’m thankful.
