this tower would have been major in an area like Hudson Yards for example or even on Park Av
The ESB is a beautiful building but unfortunately it was inevitable that it would be blocked out by new development. There’s no doubt about that. We’re starting to see the old NYC skyline slowly morph into a newer one. Sad but this is what happens in big cities.
I agree. I also believe the vocal detractors on this forum complaining about this new building are unwittingly ‘promoting’ 262 Fifth Avenue by simply adding to the overall notoriety of the building.
This ‘backfire’ effect is somewhat similar to the “Streisand” effect. In the case of this new building : all news, is good news.
ha - exactly! however you feel about it, everyone seems to love talking about this building…
That woman constantly in the photos lol but I would love to snag a condo here. I’m sure the prices would be astronomical.
The thing is, ESB stuck out like a sore thumb from inception. For example if MetLife had gone to its intended height it would have had a nearby friend. These fillers while painful are giving context to the skyline.
I hope the final result is worth of the location
All I can think is grimace emoji.
Over 700ft now.
Yeah, I’d say its maybe ~750’ now, it’s really hard to approximate measurement in any of the recent photoa because they have to he really far away from the subject to “accurately” measure whoch is still kind of impossible due to the topography of NY.
So would you say another seven floors to go?
Maybe only 4 or 5, its all dependant on if the crown is still ‘72’ tall. Relative to Madison House’s 806’ height, the last floor of 262 5th should be slightly below that which would only result in some 4 or 5 more floors left to build if the crown is still it’s original height. If its short now then its probably close to 7 more floors as you said.
