Where do you get that info?
Any chance thereās word on when we can expect a public announcement?
Im still waiting to see any official announcement
After JRF correctly called 343 Madison Iām feeling excited already lol
Mixed feelings because we would be getting the ugliest version of this building.
That may be, but like the general public Iām sure weāll come to like it in time. At the very least, it works well with the master planās spiral effect!
This is definitely an unpopular opinion on this forum, but I actually prefer the shorter version with the spire because over the last 11 years myself, and the rest of the city has become accustomed to seeing 1 WTC standing alone, and I really canāt imagine that a new tower interrupting 1 WTCs spotlight will look good. I also agree that the shorter version will better keep the original vision of the sight in which the towers would spiral upwards.
Teasing the diamond design and then waiting 20 years to build slop
I donāt mind the height cut, and thereās a lot that this newest version improves on that I hated about the last stacked box design. That being said, the spire makes it look like a melting popsicle. And thatās ignoring the way the original design will basically haunt anything that actually gets built there.
This tower is damn as insignificant as it gets. From itās halfway point its less remarkable in footprint than tower 3. The only thing that makes makes it tower over tower 3 is that single top tube and poor excuse of a spire. From midtown you wonāt really be sure what youāre looking at
JRF is in the business, he canāt tell us everything. Itās not like Marvel who intentionally leaks stuff to gain excitement
F*****g insane if true. Walking past that, whatever it is currently, is infuriating.
oh my god at least add 2 spires on it or add another hundred feet. This looks so sad
And once again, this design DOES NOT work with the spiral. If anything, it tries to terminate the spiral at a lower height with a gradient that decreases so much, making 1wtc stick out from it.
Remove the tiny top tube tier and you got 3wtc but thinner.
The spiral massingwise should slowly reach T1, with shaping to then relate to the spire. Both original Foster and the pre-scale down of the current design did it.
Agreed. The latest design is a huge let down to an overall mediocre rebuilt WTC (aside from the memorial and museum which was very beautifully done). I just canāt believe how piss poorly the city handled the rebuilding of the site. It should have been all hands on deck - no issues whatsoever securing financing. I understand economics but this isnāt just any site. With the billions this city pisses away each year this site could have been rebuilt as originally designed 10x over. Itās insane.
The idea that Yamasakiās āboxes that the ESB and Chrysler came inā are more elegant in their simplicity than whatever this mess is speaks volumes. Iāve never cared for the original Twins to be rebuilt to be honest but this is just frankly insulting to the lives lost and 25 years too late. One WTC with its revisions is still a way more graceful tower than this heap. A boondoggle and frankly pathetic for NYC.
Thatās the result when Silverstein is undertaking tons of medium projects all around and thinking an anchor tenant is all that it needs here. That is, if you build cheap crap. Canāt they find half a billion of capital to build it to respectable proportions, at least?
Man you guys love to bitch and moan, imagine if any of you lived in Des Moines or something
Welcome to the forum life. But it is a terrible design lol
I will admit that we have been a bit spoiled recently. Especially with the stacked lineup of skyscrapers we will be getting within the next half-decade. However, the outrage over 2 World Trade is warranted.
People have been waiting for almost 25 years to see what will become of the site. I am fine with every single building in the complex, except 2. It doesnāt fit the site and I donāt like the fact that it has a spire. It seems redundant to add another tower with a spire when 1WTC already had one.
This building would be fine as a standalone, but after seeing all the potential designs, we just got stuck with the worst one. The diamond design was always the best one imo.
Iām wondering if it was Silverstein or AmEx that chose the spire design, it seems out of nowhere.
