If we would’ve heard something in September, something would probably be announced by now and work would possibly be underway by now. Or I’m projecting overtly positively, and we have to be extremely patient. Hopefully the negotiations are still underway. Hopefully the negotiations aren’t on hold like the 13 years between The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith (reference to Obi Wan as The Negotiator)

Market conditions in the last few days has me worried about this building. Fox pulled out last time because of this, I wouldn’t want AMEX to walk away

If Market conditions is a euphemism for ripping up the foundation of the entire global financial system then yes, the field conditions will be challenging for the foreseeable future. Amex might not be the only ones walking.

Going to keep a happy thought and hope that this is a good sign for Amex?

TRD’s editorializing on what this means for 2 WTC (and 175 Park):

Given that Silverstein boasted about the funding strategy less than a year ago, the move could hint at complications in securing the low-cost funds.

A source familiar with the project said the company has moved on to an alternative source of financing with less red tape.

Silverstein recently turned to American Express, talking with the bank about kickstarting the project. Financing, however, remains an issue.

It’s not clear why Silverstein withdrew his application. But it raises questions about the viability of the Department of Transportation financing a project like 175 Park Avenue — particularly under the Trump administration.

The fact that both 3 & 4 WTC were built before 2 WTC is one of the biggest blunders from the rebuilding process. They could have made it work. Towers 1 & 2 should have taken full priority along with memorial. The site will never feel fully healed without a 2 WTC.

Well, as for the past quarter century. time willl tell if this is bad or good for the futurue of 2WTC because we’re often in the dark if it comes to details.

At least we still don’t have a ‘no’ from Amex!

I know these buildings are expensive but you would think after all these years they’d be saving up money to build two and five wtc

The wtc site got redesigned and the 2wtc page doesn’t have any link to it from the site itself, but the original link to that page works, and sends you to the updated page.

It has a spire now??

This seems to be a scaled down version.

20 years of design land this slop.

They also left a note

The images were uploaded in January, and one dates to last October. So these came after the models were unveiled in September.

Someone should tell Silverstein he’s a bit late for April Fool’s day…

:face_vomiting: Terrible. We know that spire isn’t making it. It’s just to ease us into the height cut. I didn’t think they could make the tower uglier yet here we are.

What a disgusting tribute to the former Twin Tower which held the title of 2WTC!

Truly is a disgusting design. Makes BIG’s appear elegant…

With all the redesigns this thing has had I’m starting to think its becoming vaporware…

There must have been at least 100 feet of height cut since in January some people here were speculating 1,251 was the top floor under the crown/lantern. I could be wrong but this is also speculation.

The 2WTC page advertises the height of the building:

Height: 62 stories / 1153’-6” (1230’-6” top of lantern)

Bring a capable developer or don’t build this at all. It doesn’t belong with the other towers.

What would warrant a re-design at this point other than what a prospective tenant wants? Could this be something AMEX negotiated?

Considering that these images are from October to January, it was done during the negotiations. Maybe to make a deal easier to sign, they will need a smaller loan for this.
